Proving Field Training Attendance for Emirati Retail

Attendance means something different in a classroom, on a video call, on a shop floor and inside a self-paced deck, and the proof should match.

This post shows how 1Channel's learning module marks attendance for each of its four session types, and how managers across the UAE read the result.

It suits training teams in FMCG, retail and modern trade, consumer durables and electronics, and cosmetics and personal care.

Four Session Types, Four Attendance Rules

Admins pick the session type when scheduling, and that choice decides who marks attendance and what counts as proof.

Session type Who marks attendance How it is recorded
Classroom The employee They reach the venue in the scheduled window and mark attendance, with a photo captured at that moment
Virtual The employee The meeting link (Google Meet, Zoom or Teams) appears in the app, and tapping it marks attendance and opens the call
In-Store The trainer The trainer visits the store, trains the employee there, photographs the trainees and marks attendance from the trainer's login
E-Learning The system Attendance is marked automatically once time spent on the content passes a configurable minimum

Two Sessions, No Paper Sign-In Sheet

Example: a team lead schedules a virtual display standards briefing for promoters in Dubai and Sharjah.

The meeting link shows up in each promoter's app, and tapping it both marks attendance and joins the call.

Example: a trainer then runs an in-store product refresher at a supermarket in Abu Dhabi.

After the walkthrough, the trainer photographs the group and marks attendance from their own login, so the record is created on the spot.

Each employee then sees the session under Past in the app, with a session-type badge and an Attended or Missed pill.

Seeing Attendance Across the Team

Managers do not have to collect records session by session. The Employee Progress screen lists each person's attendance percentage beside their certificates and badges.

A stat card at the top shows average attendance for the whole roster, so a weak cohort stands out quickly.

The Dashboard also compares attendance rate with a target the team sets, and labels it Below Target when it falls short.

Analytics adds a trainer view, with sessions conducted, students taught and average attendance for each trainer.

Scheduling Around UAE Retail Peaks

Ramadan and the Dubai Shopping Festival change the store floor quickly, so teams often want product briefings done just before them.

One module can carry several sessions, each with its own date, time and enrolment, so one briefing can run as separate cohorts for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Each cohort then gets its own attendance record instead of one blended figure.

How 1Channel Turns Every Session Into a Record

1Channel's learning module matches the attendance rule to the session type, so nobody has to chase sign-in sheets afterwards.

Employees see their own history in the app, and managers see the same numbers in the portal.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using one rule for every session type. A video call and a store visit need different proof, so set the type first.
  • Counting a quick scroll as attendance. Set the e-learning minimum time so it reflects real reading.
  • Forgetting the trainer's part. In-store attendance exists only when the trainer marks it, so brief trainers before launch.
  • Ignoring Missed pills. A missed session is a prompt to follow up, not just a number in a report.
  • Blending cohorts into one session. Separate sessions per emirate keep attendance figures readable.

Note: Software screens may vary based on your business structure and configured workflows.
