How It Works

What This LMS Actually Certifies

Three strands hold a South African financial services team together: product knowledge that has to be proven before anyone quotes, FICA and POPIA duties that never stop refreshing, and the fit-and-proper record every FAIS representative carries. The SFA reads all three before it lets an action through.

Proving Product Knowledge Before the First Quote

Transactional and savings accounts, personal and business lending, vehicle and asset finance, card products, funeral and life cover, short-term policies — each carries its own path and its own assessment. A branch consultant, business banker or bancassurance adviser clears it before the SFA will open a quote. The cloud LMS holds that gate shut until they do.

FICA, POPIA and the Refresher Cycle

Due diligence on an SA ID and proof of residence, client risk rating, ongoing monitoring, sanctions and PEP screening, plus the personal-information duties POPIA puts on anyone holding a client file. Material aligns to FICA and POPIA practice, and the renewal clock runs on its own. HR onboarding puts a new starter on the path the day their record is created.

FAIS Fit-and-Proper for Advisers and Brokers

Preparation for the regulatory examinations, class-of-business material for life and short-term lines, product-specific training, and the CPD hours a representative has to log each cycle. Item-level analytics show which topic a cohort keeps failing. Where someone still sits under supervision or a CPD cycle has lapsed, the SFA will not open the quote screen at all.

Session Types, Question Banks, Level Gates, Certificates

Four ways to run a session, question banks that never hand out the same paper twice, tiers that open on score rather than tenure, and certificate status wired straight into the SFA. Handset first, because coverage on rural routes and in township pockets is not something you can plan around.

Classroom, Virtual, In-Branch and Self-Paced

The same cloud LMS covers an induction week at a Sandton or Cape Town venue, a virtual session for bankers spread across provinces, a morning huddle run by the branch manager, and a module a mobile banker works through between calls in Soweto or Umlazi.

Question Banks, Negative Marking, Shuffled Papers

Items can be single-answer, multi-select, fill-in or image-based, and negative marking is there because the regulatory examinations mark that way too. Each attempt draws a fresh selection from the bank, so two consultants at the same desk never see the same paper. Pass marks, timing, retakes and the wait between attempts are set module by module.

Tiers That Open on Score, Not Tenure

Foundation, Practitioner and Expert unlock on completion and score together. Each step up releases heavier material — business and commercial credit, bancassurance, private-client advisory. The SFA reads the tier and works out which lines that person is cleared to sell, so nobody half-trained ends up holding a complex product.

Certificates, Expiry and the SFA Gate

Every certificate carries an expiry date, renewals are prompted well ahead of it, and branch readiness sits on a dashboard by default — all of it feeding the analytics layer. Until a certificate is current the SFA will not open a quote or an application on that product, which is the practical defence against mis-selling and against a conduct review finding gaps.

Apps that Run the System

The Apps a Banker or Adviser Opens Every Day

Two 1Channel apps carry the day-to-day work from the branch counter through to a client visit. Both download from Google Play and the Apple App Store, and both sit on the same cloud backend the admin portal runs on.
